Speaker Martin Romualdez reaffirmed on Wednesday, Sept. 25, the House of Representatives’ commitment to push forward and fast-track the priority legislative agenda of the Marcos administration.
During the 6th Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) meeting at Malacañang Place, Romualdez reported that the House made several legislative accomplishments aimed at achieving the country’s developmental goals.
According to the Speaker, the lower chamber has approved 60 out of the 64 priority measures under LEDAC’s common legislative agenda (CLA).
“With a deep sense of gratitude to our hardworking members, I also report that the House of Representatives has approved on third and final reading 26 out of the 28 LEDAC [CLA] priority measures targeted for passage by the end of the 19th Congress,” he added.
Romualdez attested to the “synergy” between Congress and the Executive for the quick passage of the legislative measures.
He pointed out that of the 28 LEDAC priority measures, two have been enacted into law, four await the President’s signature, four bicameral committee reports have been ratified, two are under bicameral conference committee, 14 have been approved by the House, and only two remain under committee deliberation.
“We are targeting a 100% completion rate of these 28 priority measures by December 2024, or 6 months ahead of the end of the Third Regular Session,” the House leader said.
As an outcome of this progress, Romualdez said the government has made significant steps towards the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028 and the fulfillment of the Eight-Point Socio-Economic Agenda under the Medium-Term Fiscal Framework.
The Speaker emphasized that lawmakers will work at “full capacity” to ensure that all priority measures are enacted well ahead of their deadlines.
