"Bago matulog dapat alam na nila (They should know before they go to sleep)."

President Marcos has ordered a swift announcement if classes and government work in Metro Manila should be suspended on Tuesday, Sept. 3, due to Tropical Storm Enteng, saying the people should be aware of this before they go to sleep.

In an interview in Malacañan on Monday morning, Sept. 2, the President said the government is monitoring the typhoon's movement as it continues northward, noting that the rain and the gusts of wind might grow stronger on Tuesday.

"We will see. We will try to give the bulletin as early as possible for work and school tomorrow," he said.

"Ang instruction ko sa kanila, kung maaari, bago tayo matulog, alam na natin kung may pasok bukas o hindi para makapag-adjust naman ang mga tao (My instruction to them was, if possible, the people should know whether or not there are classes or work tomorrow so they could make adjustments)," he added.

Marcos said this was important, especially for the government workers so they would not have to get stranded due to the late suspension of work.

"Tinitingnan lang namin ay kung makapunta yung mga empleyado natin, makapasok at makauwi (We're monitoring if the employees can come to work and go home)," he said.

"Importante yung makauwi kasi mahirap pag ma-stranded sila doon sa kanilang pinagtatrabahuhan (Getting home is the important part because it would be difficult if they get stranded in their workplace). So that's what we are watching now," he added.

Malacañang has suspended classes at all levels in the National Capital Region (NCR) early Monday due to the inclement weather brought about by Tropical Storm Enteng. The suspension of government work, except for those involved in frontline services, was suspended at 8:30 a.m. the same day.

The suspension of work in private companies was left to the discretion of their respective heads.

According to the President, the government is prepared for the typhoon's aftermath.

"We're prepared for the aftermath of all of this. As usual, nag-forward placement na tayo ng mga pangangailangan (we have prepared everything we would need)," he said on Monday.

"We will just have to wait for the weather to see what it will do. Hopefully, umiwas sa atin (it would avoid us) but even if it does not, we have all the elements in place to support the people na mahihirapan dahil nga dito sa naging bagyong Enteng (who will have a hard time due to Typhoon Enteng)," he added.

Meanwhile, Marcos said he would not convene the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) for a situation briefing on the effects of Tropical Storm Enteng, saying its members are busy working.

"That's always my policy. Pagka nasa gitna ng krisis, hindi ko sila tinatawag dahil nagtatrabaho sila (When we are in the middle of a crisis, I do not call them because they are working)," he said.

"Besides, wala namang (there's nothing)— they keep reporting naman (anyway) to me," he added.
