Lifestyle retail magnate and Love Local champion Ben Chan celebrated his birthday recently at his sister Nenita Chan Lim’s house at Forbes Park, headlined no less by the surprise arrival of Korean superstar, My Secret Romance idol Sung Hoon, as well as the performance, accompanied only by a live piano, by tenor Arman Ferrer, whom the Cultural Center of the Philippines considers “one of our brightest actors in musical theater today.”
It wasn’t a small party, 50-strong or more, but each guest was an intimate friend, including Bea Zobel de Ayala Jr., Leyte 4th district Rep. Richard Gomez, Ormoc City Mayor Lucy Torres Gomez, Philippine Airlines president and COO Stanley Ng, Sta. Elena Construction and Development CEO Alice Eduardo, Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Margie Moran Floirendo, and designers Chito Vijandre, Joey Samson, Lulu Tan Gan, and Rhett Eala.
Over a feast of handmade fresh fettuccine, Bulacan river prawn, buttered chicken, and roast lechon, everyone raised a glass to Ben, the trendsetter, changemaker, record-breaker, man of the world, a force for good, but quiet, unassuming, and a very good friend.
Happy birthday, Ben!
