Pampanga 2nd district Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will be gunning for reelection during the May 2025 mid-term polls. 

"Former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is running for a second term as congresswoman of the second district of Pampanga," Lance Chua Suarez of Arroyo's office said in a message to House reporters Thursday afternoon, Sept. 19. 

This, at the very least, eliminates the possibility that the 77-year-old would seek higher office next year.

House members can pursue three successive three-year terms. 

Arroyo, also a former House Speaker, served as chief executive from 2001 to 2010. 

She is chairperson emeritus of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) party.
