BACOLOD CITY – Nine out of 61 barangays here were flooded since Friday night, September 13, due to heavy rains from the intensified southwest monsoon or “habagat.”

Rodolfo Jamora Jr., deputy for operations of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), said that flooded areas were Barangays Alijis, Handumanan, Sum-ag, Cabug, Pahanocoy, Taculing, Singcang-Airport, Punta Taytay, and 39.
A total of 351 families or 1,206 individuals have been evacuated as of 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 14.
Jamora said some affected residents were subjected to pre-emptive evacuation while others were rescued due to rising floodwater.
He said 228 families or 692 individuals are temporarily sheltered in various evacuation centers while other evacuees have returned home.
Jamora said they are continuously monitoring the situation.
Meanwhile, the body of a four-year-old boy who was swept away by a rampaging river in Barangay Taculing, this city, on Friday, September 13, was found in Purok Sigay, Barangay Singcang-Airport here on Saturday morning, September 14.
Jamora said the victim’s body was partially submerged in the river when found by the search and rescue team.
