DOJ sets release today ruling on qualified human trafficking charge vs Alice Guo, others


Department of Justice (DOJ) Undersecretary Nicholas Felix L. Ty said the resolution on the qualified trafficking in persons complaint filed against dismissed Mayor Alice L. Guo of Bamban, Tarlac is expected to be released this Friday afternoon, Sept. 13.

“Ang nasabi sa akin ng mga piskal na may pasya nito ay lalabas na ito ngayong araw (I was informed by the handling prosecutors they will release the resolution today),” Ty said during an interview on PTV’s Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon.

“Kaya kami inaabangan na lang namin ang release nito (That’s why we are just waiting for its release),” he also said. 

The DOJ panel of prosecutors conducted preliminary investiation on the complaint filed against Guo and her co-respondents for violations of Sections 4 and 6 of Republic Act (RA) No. 9208, the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003, as amended, in connection with alleged qualified human trafficking committed by Zun Yuan Technology Center, a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO), that was raided by authorities in Bamban town.

The complaint was filed by the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) and the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) before the DOJ last June 21.
