DOJ to transfer to Manila cases filed by ex-Pres Duterte on KOJC operations on Quiboloy's arrest
The Department of Justice (DOJ) is set to transfer from the Davao City Prosecutor’s Office to its main office in Manila the complaints filed by former President Rodrigo R. Duterte against those involved in the police operations that led to the arrest of Apollo C. Quiboloy, founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC).
“There were cases that were filed for unjust vexation,” said Senior Deputy State Prosecutor Richard Anthony D. Fadullon, prosecutor general officer-in-charge (OIC), during a press briefing on Wednesday, Sept. 11.
“They were filed before the Prosecutor’s Office Davao and there is already an order to transfer these cases here in the main office,” Fadullon said.
Among the respondents named by Duterte are Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr., Police Brig. Gen. Nicholas D. Torre III, and police officers involved in the operation at the KOJC compound.
"Meron kasing piecemeal filings, hindi sabay-sabay (there are also piecemeal filings of cases),” Fadullon said.
“Depending on the number of cases we may have to increase the number of prosecutors who will attend to the cases,” he admitted.
Quiboloy is facing charges for qualified human trafficking and sexual assault committed against a 17-year-old girl in 2011. Two trial courts have issued arrest orders against him.
