DOJ to ask court to allow Quiboloy's detention at PNP's Custodial Center
The Department of Justice (DOJ) will ask the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) for the continued detention of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Apollo C. Quiboloy at the Custodial Center of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
“We are in discussions with prosecutors to suggest that to the court para hindi naman mahirapan kasi (so there won’t be problems because) it would be more difficult for BJMP (Bureau of Jail Management and Penology) Quezon City to be transferring him to Pasig anytime there is a court hearing,” said Senior Deputy State Prosecutor Richard Anthony D. Fadullon, prosecutor general officer-in-charge (OIC), during a press briefing on Wednesday, Sept. 11.
Quiboloy is currently detained at the PNP’s Custodial Center following his arrest over the weekend in Davao City.
Fadullon said the QC RTC Branch 106 has asked that Quiboloy be detained at the Quezon City Jail.
Fadullon reminded that Quiboloy is facing before Pasig City RTC Branch 159 a non-bailable case of qualified trafficking persons in violation of Section (a) of Republic Act (RA) 9208, the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003.
At the Quezon City RTC, Quiboloy has been charged with acts of child abuse under Section 10(a) of RA 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
The cases pending before the two trial courts involved the alleged sexual abuse and trafficking in persons committed against a 17-year-old girl in 2011.
