After years in hiding, NBI arrests man charged with murder for killing town official in 2019

A fugitive, who has been charged for the 2019 killing of the then municipal administrator of San Isidro town in Leyte and against whom an arrest order has been issued by the trial court, has been apprehended, the National Bureau of Investigation NBI) sad in Friday, August 9.

Arrested in Barangay Linao in San Isidro town last August 7 was Emmanuel "Weng Weng" B. Veloso, the NBI said.

The arrest was done by operatives of the NBI Eastern Visayas Regional Office (NBI-EVRO) during the service of the warrant issued by the Quezon City regional trial court (RTC).

The NBI said that Veloso has been charged with murder for the killing of then San Isidro municipal administrator Levi Aporbo Mabini on May 8, 2019.

The murder case was originally filed before the RTC in Leyte but was later transferred to the Quezon City RTC which issued the arrest order, it also said.
