The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Sunday, August 4, assured that a Chinese baby was with her parents when they were deported along with other foreign workers of the raided Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).
“We have waived other requirements to allow the smooth travel of the child, who left together with the parents,” said BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said in a statement.
Tansingco made the assurance in response to news reports that the baby was among the 27 Chinese nationals who were deported last August 2.
He said the baby is the child of a female worker of Smart Web Technology that was raided last year by the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC).
He also said the Chinese nationals who were deported were among those arrested during the PAOCC-led operations against illegal online gaming activities in Las Pinas City, Pasay City and Tarlac.
“The Bureau of Immigration remains dedicated to enforcing our immigration laws and ensuring that foreign nationals who violate these laws are dealt with accordingly,” Tansingco had earlier said.
“Our collaboration with other agencies, such as the PAOCC, highlights our unified effort to maintain law and order in the country,” he added.
