Woman seeks justice for daughter murdered in Cebu City

CEBU CITY — A mother is demanding justice after her daughter was brutally killed in her boarding house in Barangay Bulacao here on Friday morning, August 2.

Letecia Relativo is seeking the immediate arrest of her daughter’s assailant, whose identity is yet to be known.

Her  27-year-old daughter, Charina, was found lifeless with bruises all over the body. The victim was also found naked but police are still awaiting the result of the autopsy to determine if she was raped before she was killed.

Letecia said there were indications that her daughter fought back with her attacker.

"She had several bruises. Her two arms were severely bruised and looked like she really fought back,” said Letecia in the vernacular in an interview by radio station dyHP.

Based on the injuries in her neck, Charina was choked until she died, Letecia said.

“What was done to my daughter was very brutal. It’s very painful and it’s very difficult to accept,” said Letecia.

Police Major Jiceree Basitao, chief of the Inayawan Police Station, said the autopsy would determine the if the victin was raped before she was killed.

Basitao also said that they have no suspects yet in the crime although a man identified as  Darren Cui is already in their custody.

Cui is the boardmate of Charina and his live-in partner Jungie Enriquez.

Enriquez stated in his affidavit that Cui was the person whom he asked to check on his partner.

The victim was a saleslady of a mall where Enriquez also works.

Enriquez said that Charina was supposed to report for work at 12 noon. Enriquez left ahead of his partner as he was part of the mall’s opening shift.

Enriquez said it was already almost noon but Charina was still not at her workplace. He added that the woman was also inactive on Facebook messenger that prompted her to ask Cui to check on her partner.

Police were called when Charina was found lifeless in her room.
