House Deputy Speaker Quezon 2nd district Rep. David "Jay-jay" Suarez agrees with the Department of Finance (DOF) chief--Speaker Martin Romualdez is indeed President Marcos' secret weapon.
"So talaga secret weapon dahil kung titignan naman natin ang dedikasyon, hard work, yung diligence ng tao at malasakit niya para sa mamayan," Suarez told House reporters.
(Sp he's really the secret weapon if we look at his dedication, hard work, his diligence, and his compassion for the people.)
Suarez was alluding to DOF Secretary Ralph Recto's description of Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) President Romualdez as the secret weapon of Marcos.
The top economic manager gave this remark during the launch of the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) in Batangas last Saturday.
Suarez cited what he thought made the House Speaker an indispensable part of Marcos bureaucratic tool box.
"I believe so [Romualdez is the secret weapon] because pagdating po sa legislative measures na dapat maipatupad upang maging matagumpay ang ating pamahalaan, upang maging matagumpay ang ating Pangulo, itinitiyak ito ni Speaker Martin Romualdez sa pagbabantay ng tamang paggastos ng ating pamahalaan," he said.

(When it comes to the legislative measures that must be passed for the success of the government, for the success of the President, Speaker Martin Romualdez makes these happen through oversight on government spending.)
Last March, the 300-plus strong House of Representatives reported that it had already approved on third and final reading all of the 20 priority Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) measures that were targeted for passage by the end of June.
This means that the House finished its task three months ahead of schedule. President Marcos presides over the LEDAC.
Recto also called Romualdez the innovator of projects that directly give benefits to the people, the foremost of which is the BPSF.
