Alice Guo, her siblings to be deported after their liability is settled -- BI
Dismissed Mayor Alice L. Guo of Bamban, Tarlac and her two siblings --Shiela and Wesley -- will be deported after they have been held accountable for their crimes, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Tuesday, Aug. 27.
Commissioner Norman Tansingco issued the statement after Shiela was repatriated to the Philippines following her arrest in Indonesia. Guo and Wesley remain at large and are believed to be still in Indonesia.
“Shiela currently faces a deportation case for undesirability and misrepresentation as a Filipino national, as she was found to have a valid Chinese passport under the name Zhang Mier,” the BI said.
It said that “Commissioner Tansingco clarified that Shiela will only be deported only after the resolution of all pending criminal cases filed against her and completion of all other liabilities in the country."
It also said that once Alice and Wesley are repatriated to the Philippines, "they may also face the same cases."
“We are in close coordination with our Indonesian counterparts in monitoring the movements of Alice Guo,” Tansingco said.
Shiela on Tuesday faced a Senate hearing where she revealed that she and her sister left the Philippines via boat to Sabah.
Tansingco said Shiela’s testimony proved the BI’s earlier suspicions that the siblings departed illegally without formal inspections.
“We are glad that this piece of the puzzle has been found, but Alice’s return to the Philippines would ensure that justice is served,” he said.
