Katherine Cassandra Ong and Shiela Guo, the sister of dismissed mayor Alice Guo of Bamban, Tarlac, have returned to the Philippines on Thursday afternoon, Aug. 22, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said in a statement that two women arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 at around 5 pm via Philippine Airlines flight PR 540 from Jakarta, Indonesia.

“They were considered illegal aliens by Indonesian immigration as they are wanted in the Philippines,” the commissioner said about the return of the two women.

Upon their arrival, the commissioner noted that the two women were escorted by operatives of the BI’s Intelligence Division (ID) and Fugitive Search Unit (FSU).

Prior to the arrest, Tansingco said the BI immediately coordinated with its Indonesian counterparts after learning that the dismissed mayor and her companions traveled to Batam, Indonesia last Aug. 18.

“Intelligence information show that the group were assisted by a Singaporean man who booked their stay in Indonesia,” said the bureau.

“They were allegedly about to depart Batam Island when the Indonesian investigation team from the Directorate of Wasdakim intercepted them and initiated their return to the Philippines,” it added.

Shiela will be placed under the custody of the BI for being an illegal alien, while Ong will be taken to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), which will file charges against her.
