Several local government units, including Antipolo City, and four other towns in Rizal Province have announced the suspension of face-to-face (F2F) classes in all public and private schools on Tuesday, August 20, following the threat of air pollution in the province.
In separate announcements, the local governments of Antipolo City, Baras, Teresa, and Binangonan have suspended in-person classes in all levels.
In Angono, the suspension of face-to-face classes covered the Kinder to Senior High School students as indicated by Angono Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon.
Binangonan Mayor Cesar Ynares also announced the suspension of F2F classes and the shift to modular distance learning in all levels both in private and public schools on August 20.
Antipolo Mayor Casimiro "Junjun" Ynares III said modular distance learning will be implemented while the city government awaits the report on the air quality in the city.
Rizal Governor Nina Ricci Ynares said she had informed the public schools in the province to suspend F2F classes and to shift to the alternative learning modalities such as modular and online learning as the threat of the volcanic smog from Taal Volcano remains.
“Inaabisuhan din natin ang lahat ng hangga’t maari ay iwasan munang lumabas ng bahay kung hindi kailangan at magsuot ng N95 mask bilang proteksyon (We also advised the public to refrain from going out of their homes and to wear N95 masks for protection should the need to go out is necessary), Governor Ynares said.
Other towns in the province also announced the suspension of F2F classes.
