BI deports 27 Chinese nationals arrested for illegal online gaming
Twenty-seven Chinese nationals have been deported after their arrests during raids of illegal online gaming establishments, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Friday, Aug. 2.
Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco said the 27 Chinese national were deported last Aug. 1 and flew to Shanghai, China.
Tansingco said they were among 33 foreigners who were scheduled to be deported by the BI. However, the six other persons were unable to get clearances from the National Bureau Investigation (NBI) to show that they have no pending cases in the Philippines.
He also said the 33 foreigners were among those arrested by the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) during various operations conducted against illegal online gaming activities in Las Pinas City, Pasay City and Tarlac.
“The Bureau of Immigration remains dedicated to enforcing our immigration laws and ensuring that foreign nationals who violate these laws are dealt with accordingly,” Tansingco said.
“Our collaboration with other agencies, such as the PAOCC, highlights our unified effort to maintain law and order in the country,” he also said.
