DOJAC sets up satellite office in Cebu City to provide free legal services to Region VII residents

The Department of Justice’s Action Center (DOJAC) launched a satellite office in Cebu City on Monday, August 19, to provide free legal services to the residents of Region VII.

Region VII is compose of the provinces of Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental and Siquijor and their component cities and municipalities.  Also in Region VII are the highly urbanized cities of Cebu, Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue.

In a statement, the DOJ said the satellite office will "efficiently and swiftly act on public complaints/inquiries by providing clients free legal services such as rendering of legal advice, drafting of legal documents, making referrals to different government agencies and many more.”

"As a country composed of islands divided by the seas, it has always been a challenge to deliver essential government services from the nation's capital of Manila to the different regions across the Philippines,” said Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla.

“With President Marcos' Bagong Pilipinas campaign that no Filipino shall be left behind, we bridge our geographical gaps to deliver justice to each and everyone in real time," Remulla also said.

The launching of the satellite office was graced by DOJAC Undersecretary-In-Charge Margarita N. Gutierrez, DOJ Spokesperson and Assistant Secretary Jose Dominic F. Clavano IV, Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn F. Garcia and Cebu City Acting Mayor Raymond Alvin N. Garcia.

The DOJAC was initially called the Public Assistance Center (PAC) which was created pursuant to Ministry Order No. 41 dated Feb. 28, 1985.

DOJAC was established through Department Order No. 204 dated June 22, 1995.
