Three Chinese fugitives wanted in their country and in the Philippines have been arrested in Paranaque City, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced on Sunday, August 18.
BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco identified the three fugitives as Jun Chen, 28; Hongru Zhang, 26; and Hao Zhen, 27, all of whom are facing charges of robbery, grave coercion, illegal detention, gun possession, and illegal drugs trading that police filed before the Parañaque City prosecutor’s office.
“They can only be deported after the criminal cases against them are resolved and, if convicted, they will have to first serve their sentence in jail,” said Tansingco.
He said they were arrested by the BI’s Fugitive Search Unit (BI-FSU) in Barangay Tambo in Paranaque City last August 13.
The cases against them were filed following the rescue of a Vietnamese national whom they kidnapped and detained, he also said.
At the same time, Tansingco said "the three Chinese nationals are subjects of arrest warrants issued by the public security bureau in Jinjiang, China and are now undocumented aliens as their passports were already canceled by the Chinese government.”
Those arrested are now detained by the Paranaque City police pending the resolution of the criminal complaint against them.
