Iwahig Prison's women PDLs can now talk to loved ones online


Female persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) in Puerto Princesa City can now talk to their loved ones online, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said.

In a statement, BuCor said that the IPPF's Correctional Institution for Women (CIF) has launched its "E-Dalaw" program that "enhances communication between PDLs and their loved ones through virtual visits secured by video conferencing platforms." .

The bureau said "E-Dalaw" also “exemplifies its commitment to rehabilitation, emphasizing the importance of maintaining familial bonds to aid in the successful reintegration of incarcerated women into free society.”

“C/CInsp. Gary A. Garcia, IPPF Superintendent, under the guidance of BuCor Director General, General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr., remains committed to utilizing innovative ways to bring people together as well as their families even within correctional settings,” it also said.
