Marcos on Imelda: She's very determined, driven

President Marcos has bared that it was not until he took office that he realized how determined and driven his mother —former first lady Imelda Marcos—was.

Marcos talked about this in a vlog featuring the Marcos matriarch's 95th birthday. He dedicated the entire vlog to appreciate his mother by answering questions related to her.

When he was asked to elaborate how much determination it will take to achieve what she has achieved, the President said he actually only understood it deeper when he became the country's 17th president.

"I always thought that she was a very determined, very driven person, I just didn't realize until I took office how determined and how driven you have to be to have achieved as much as she has," he said.

He also said that now that he is in the same position as his father, he now have a deeper perspective on the difficulties and challenges of the bureaucracy, and could not help but appreciate more what his parents were able to achieve.

"Parang siyempre alam ko na, e. Alam ko na yung pinagdaanan nila. Alam ko na kung gaano kahirap yung ginawa nila. So sinasabi ko, napakagaling nila (I now know what they went through. I already know how hard it was for them. So I say, they were excellent)," Marcos said.

The Marcoses celebrated the former first lady's 95th birthday in Malacañang Palace on July 2.

It was the third time the former first lady celebrated her birthday after being back in Malacañan Palace through her son's presidency.
