DOJ starts preliminary probe on non-bailable trafficking in persons charges vs Guo, 13 others
The Department of Justice (DOJ) starts at 10 a.m. today, July 5, the preliminary investigation on the non-bailable qualified trafficking in persons complaints against suspended Mayor Alice L. Guo of Bamban, Tarlac and her 13 co-respondents.
The complaints against Guo and her co-respondents were filed last June 21 by the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) and the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG).
It was alleged that Guo and her co-respondents have links with the Zun Yuan Technology, a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) in Bamban. The POGO facility was raided by law enforcers for alleged illegal activities.
"No one will be spared from this investigation, heads will roll once we find probable cause to do so," said DOJ Secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla in a statement .
Guo had been suspended for at least six months by the Office of the Ombudsman (OMB) on administrative charges filed by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in connection with the POGO operation in her town.
She was charged by the DILG with grave misconduct, conduct prejudicial to the best interest of service, and gross neglect of duty.
The OMB found strong evidence on the charges that warranted the preventive suspension of Guo.
