According to the city government, the project aims to strengthen the city’s waste management and recycling programs.

The CEMD said that each armchair was made of 25 kilograms of plastic wrappers and five kilograms of plastic bottles.

It added that the armchairs were made using a plastic melting machine.

City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan commended the CEMD for its program.

I commend the CEMD for not only maintaining cleanliness in our city and reducing plastic waste materials but also for creating useful tools for the youth of Caloocan, especially the new students at UCC-College of Engineering),” he said.

Malapitan also urged the residents to conduct a waste sorting project in their houses to reduce the use of plastic products.

The CEMD can produce more recycled materials more quickly if we start organizing our wastes at home. Of course, our ultimate goal is to significantly reduce plastic use in the city, thereby eliminating its negative impacts on our environment),” Malapitan added.

The mayor acknowledged the recycling program of the CEMD which, he said, aligns with his administration’s advocacy for sustainable, holistic, and long-term solutions in the city.

Asahan niyo na po na sa ilalim ng ating pamumuno, pangmatagalan at pangkabuuang solusyon ang lagi nating pagtutuunan ng pansin (With the continuous implementation of this project by the CEMD, we can better address issues related to the environment, safety, and education. Rest assured that under our leadership, we will always focus on long-term and comprehensive solutions),” he said.

The city government inaugurated the new engineering programs at the UCC, in Bagong Silangan, Caloocan City, on Monday, July 29.
