140,000 K-12 students to receive internet allowance from Pasig
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto announced on Tuesday, July 30, that the local government will distribute special communications allowance or internet connectivity allowance to a total of 140,000 public school students under the K–12 program in the city.

The mayor said that the allowance was approved by the Pasig City Local School Board on Tuesday to aid students in their learning, especially during the hybrid learning modality, or the combination of face-to-face and online classes.
Sotto said that each student from the 44 schools in the city will receive a one-time amount of P1,500 from the city government.
“The basis of the 140,000 (students) is the enrollment as of July 26 (the official end of enrollment), so whoever is officially enrolled by then, will get the communication allowance,” the local government said.
It added that the distribution of the allowance could be done each week.
Aside from the allowance that the Pasigueño learners will receive from the city, Sotto also announced on Tuesday, that they will also receive new school supplies, uniforms, and shoes, as some of them will start their classes on August 1 to 5.
