'Unruly' Vietnamese woman arrested at NAIA -- BI

A Vietnamese woman -- who snatched her passport from an immigration officer, threw herself on the floor, and started shouting -- was arrested for causing a disturbance at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) last July 1.

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) identified the woman foreigner as Ban Thi Van, 19, who, before her arrest, was checking in at the BI for her flight to Hanoi, Vietnam.

The BI said that during immigration inspection, "Ban aggressively snatched her passport from the immigration officer and caused a scene by throwing herself on the floor and shouting.”

It said immigration officers "sought the assistance of the BI’s border control and intelligence unit as well as airport police and the Philippine National Police (PNP) aviation security group."

“Women officers and policemen were deployed to pacify the woman, who was later arrested for her unruly behavior,” it also said.

At the same time, the BI said the Vietnamese woman "even streamed her outburst on social media."
