DPWH: 24 roads in Metro Manila impassable due to flooding, landslide caused by 'Carina'


At least 24 roads in Metro Manila were closed due to landslide, flooding, and fallen trees caused by the onslaught of typhoon Carina, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said on Wednesday, July 24.

In a travel advisory, the DPWH said the affected areas are located in Manila, Quezon City, Mandaluyong City, Taguig City, and Makati City.

The DPWH said the main roads in Manila are still impassable, namely: Blumentritt Road, corner P. Margal, P. Florentino; Tayuman corner Jose Abad Santos Avenue; España Blvd., M. dela fuente to AH Lacson Ave; Taft Avenue, Pedro Gil Street (NB); Taft Avenue, UN Avenue (NB); T.M. Kalaw Avenue (WB); P. Quirino Avenue near Singalong Street (NB); P. Quirino Avenue, Pedro Gil Street (NB); Taft Avenue (NB) near Arellano University; and Lagusnilad Underpass.

Also closed to all types of vehicles are G. Araneta Ave., corner Maria Clara Street; Sto. Domingo Ave., corner Calamba Street; Maria Clara Street, corner G. Araneta to Sto. Domingo Avenue; General Luis Street, corner Ambrosia Street; Quezon Ave., corner Victory Ave.; Quezon Ave., cor. Victory Ave., near Timog Ave.; V. Luna Road; E. Rod Sr. Avenue in front of Delos Santos Hospital; and Mother Ignacia St., near Samar Avenue in Quezon City.

In Mandaluyong City, Boni Avenue at F. Ortigas and Boni Avenue at Maysilo Circle are impassable due to fallen trees, while landslides have closed C-5 Road in Taguig City.

In Makati City, the DPWH has closed the EDSA North Bound due to high water levels.

Meanwhile, the remaining flooded road sections in Pasig City, Parañaque City, Caloocan City, Valenzuela City, Malabon City, and Navotas City are also impassable to light vehicles only, while others remain accessible to all types of vehicles.

The DPWH maintenance teams have been deployed throughout the region for canal and waterway declogging, road clearing operations, and continuous monitoring and response efforts.
