Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla on Tuesday, July 23, assured the full support of the Department of Justice (DOJ) to the total ban against Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) as declared by President Marcos.
"Once again, the President's firm resolve to safeguard the rule of law and protect the most vulnerable members of society is crystal clear with his pronouncements and actions," Remulla said.
"Let us all work together alongside our President in making the nation progressive more than ever," he urged all Filipinos.
During his third State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, July 22, the President directed the Philippine Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) to have all POGO operations fully stopped by the end of this year.
The President also told the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to find jobs for Filipinos who will be displaced by the closure of POGOs in the country.
"Disguising as legitimate entities, their operations have ventured into elicit areas furthest from gaming such as financial scamming, money laundering, prostitution, human trafficking, kidnapping, brutal torture, even murder," the President pointed out during the SONA.
"The grave abuse and disrespect to our system of laws must stop,” President Marcos declared.
