The Quezon City government has announced the suspension of classes in the city on Monday, July 22, as President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. is set to deliver his third State of the Nation Address (SONA) at the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City.
All classes will be suspended for all levels in private and public schools, along with the suspension of Brigada Eskwela in all public schools in the city.
It stated that the suspension of classes aims to encourage everyone to listen to the president's speech.
The suspension was also ordered to prevent public traffic congestion, as the local government has issued a traffic advisory on road closures and re-routing plans during the SONA.
Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said that over 22,000 policemen will be deployed to maintain security during the SONA, with thousands more as augmentation forces from various government agencies.
