The Quezon City government issued a traffic advisory on road closure and re-routing for the upcoming third State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., on Monday, July 22.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Task Force SONA 2024, Philippine National Police (PNP), Quezon City Police District (QCPD), Presidential Security Group (PSG), city’s Transport and Traffic Management Office (TTMO) were also joined to assist the motorists.
The zipper lane or counterflow will also be implemented on the southbound portion of Commonwealth Avenue to accommodate government officials and guests heading to the Batasang Pambansa Complex.
It added that a zipper lane will also be implemented at Doña Carmen going to the Batasan Complex via IBP Road from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Upon reaching IBP Litex Road, personnel from MMDA, QCPD, and QC LGU will implement stop-and-go traffic to give way and ensure the safety of crossing vehicles.
Batasan-IBP Road and Batasan-San Mateo Road cor., J.P. Rizal will be closed to public vehicles starting at 8 a.m., as part of the security measure.
Motorists are advised to take the following alternative routes due to the expected heavy traffic flow on Commonwealth Avenue and around the Batasang Pambansa Complex.
AllAll vehicles coming from Elliptical Road going to Fairview should take North Avenue then turn right at Mindanao Avenue, turn right at Sauyo Road, or take Quirino Highway to reach Commonwealth Avenue straight to the destination.
Motorists from Fairview going to Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC) should also take Commonwealth Avenue, then take Sauyo Road or Quirino Highway, turn left at Mindanao Avenue, and turn left at North Avenue straight to the destination.
Meanwhile, heavy vehicles coming from C5 Road should take the Luzon flyover and then turn left at Congressional Avenue straight to the point of destination.
Light vehicles from Katipunan Avenue or C5 Road should take a left turn at Magiting Street, then turn right at Maginhawa Street to reach Kalayaan Avenue straight to the point of destination.
The city government also implemented the road rerouting from Marikina or San Mateo to Litex should take straight to Batasan-San Mateo Road, then turn right at IBP Road and Straight to Litex or Commonwealth Avenue.
Vehicles from Commonwealth Avenue or IBP Road going to Marikina or San Mateo Road should turn right at Sinagtala, then turn left at Dakila Street, and turn right at Batasan-San Mateo Road.
Motorists can also take a right turn at Sinagtala, then turn left at Senatorial, and turn right at Batasan-San Mateo Road.
Vehicles from IBP Road or Commonwealth should also take a right turn to Filinvest 1, then turn left to Jocson Street, take a right turn to Antique Street, turn left to Cotabato Street then a right turn to Sinagtala Street, take a left turn to Senatorial and turn right at Batasan-San Mateo Road.
Motorists from Sinagtala Street or Senatorial can also take a left turn to Kagawad Street and then turn right at Batasan-San Mateo Road.
Furthermore, all vehicles from Bagong Silangan going to Commonwealth should take Violago Street, take a left turn to Sampaguita Street, turn right to Santan Street then take a left turn at Ilang-ilang Street straight to IBP Road.
Motorists from Violago Street take a left turn to Sampaguita Street then a right turn to Santan Street, take a left turn at Jasmin Street, and turn left to Everlasting Street.
All vehicles coming from Bagong Silangan going to Litex, Commonwealth, or Doña Carmen should take the JP Rizal Street straight to San Vicente turn left at San Lorenzo, then take a right turn to Santo Niño de Payatas, turn left at San Juan Bautista then turn left to Santo Niño take a right turn to Lansones, turn left at Payatas Road and turn right to Soliven straight to the destination.
Motorists can also go straight to Doña Juliana and then straight to Doña Carmen to the point of destination.
Moreover, Motorists coming from Marikina or San Mateo going to Commonwealth should straight to Batasan-San Mateo Road turn left to Congressional, take a right turn to Sinagtala Street turn left to Masbate Street, then turn right to Filinvest 1 and straight to IBP Road or Commonwealth.
