House Speaker Martin Romualdez doesn't see the upcoming mid-term elections as a distraction in the solons' work during the third and final regular session of the 19th Congress.
"We are committed to maintaining legislative momentum despite the approaching national elections in 2025," Romualdez said in a video clip sent to reporters late night Sunday, July 21.
"Our priority is to ensure that critical bills are passed and that the legislative process continues to serve the people's needs effectively. We will navigate the political landscape with a focus on stability and progress," he said.
The submission of certificates of candidacy (COC) for the 2025 polls will begin in October.
Romualdez had earlier said that he would seek reelection as Leyte 1st district representative.

Meanwhile, he reiterated his belief that the House of Representatives would have a "strong collaborative relationship" with the new Senate leadership under Senate President Francis "Chiz" Escudero.
"This partnership is crucial for the smooth passage of pending legislation. We are confident that our cooperative efforts will lead to the successful enactment of key legislative measures," said Romualdez, president of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD).
The start of the third regular session will coincide with President Marcos' third State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, July 22.
