Ezzra James Fernandez, information officer for operations of the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD)-Davao, said on Wednesday, July 17, that based on the initial report from the Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DCDRRMO), families who were pre-emptively evacuated came from Barangays Buhangin Proper, Cabantian, Alfonso Angliongto Sr., Sasa, and Panacan.

He added other barangays affected by the flooding were Communal and Pampanga.

Fernandez said there was no reported damage due to flooding.

He said that the heavy downpour could have been caused by the LPA within the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

“We are currently experiencing the effects of southwest monsoon but LPA prevailed last night,” he said.

In a weather update posted at 8:18 a.m. Wednesday, the DCDRRMO said that the LPA remains as the prevailing weather system.

The agency said that chances of scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected.

It said that all river channels were monitored at Code Green or safe level.
