Poa, who also serves as the DepEd Spokesperson, was among the executives who resigned from their posts.

“I think it is only appropriate to give the incoming Secretary of Education, Secretary Angara, a free hand to choose the people that will form part of his team,” Poa said when asked why he tendered his resignation. "I will just wait for instructions from the Vice President, if any,” he added.

Aside from Poa, the other DepEd officials who resigned include Undersecretary for Administration Nolasco A. Mempin, Assistant Secretary for the Office of the Secretary Sunshine A. Fajarda, Assistant Secretary for Procurement Reynold S. Munsayac, and Assistant Secretary for Administration Noel T. Baluyan.

Angara’s term will be effective on July 19, the same day the term of Vice President Sara Duterte as DepEd Secretary ends. She resigned as DepEd Chief on June 19.
