A Chinese national shot himself dead and three of his compatriots were arrested during an operation conducted by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) against a kidnap gang that is suspected to be behind several killings in Pampanga.

The BI identified the dead Chinese national  as Wu Fu Wen, 35, who shot himself during a pursuit operation conducted by operatives of BI’s Fugitive Search Unit (BI-FSU) in Angeles City, Pampanga last Friday, July 12.

It said that Wu “refused to surrender and instead shot himself with a single bullet, which killed him on the spot.”

Two of his Chinese companions, identified as Feng Zhenghend, 29, and Chou Yibo, 33, were arrested during the pursuit operation. The operatives chanced upon Chinese national Wang Yan, 25, who was also apprehended after being found to be undocumented.

“All three of them reportedly arrived in the Philippines in 2019 and did not depart since then. “They did not bother to apply for extension of their stay in the country,” the BI said.

It said “the Chinese nationals are prime suspects in the murder of nine foreigners whose bodies were dumped in different areas in Pampanga several months ago.”

It also said that six of those murdered were Chinese nationals while the three others were from Vietnam, Malaysia and Japan.
