A survey conducted by Publicus Asia for the second quarter of 2024 revealed that the Manila Bulletin has emerged as a trusted print and online news platform, based on the results released on Monday, July 15.

Manila Bulletin received a 45 percent trust rating in both print and online news platforms, alongside the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Philippine Star closely followed with a 43 percent trust rating.

Publicus Asia noted that the results indicate "print and online news outlets also maintain strong credibility."

The survey, conducted from June 15 to 19, sampled 1,507 respondents nationwide to assess the significant influence of digital platforms in shaping public opinion on political news and current events.

During the survey, Publicus Asia found that internet search remains the primary source of political news for 68 percent of Filipinos, followed closely by television at 66 percent.

Social media platforms, particularly Facebook, also emerged as a significant source, with 63 percent of respondents relying on them for daily updates.

In terms of trust in television news, GMA7 led with an increase in trust ratings from 47 to 53 percent this quarter.

ABS-CBN Online and TV5/Interaksyon also garnered substantial trust from the public.

Radio, while less utilized for daily news updates, held moderate trust among its audience, with DZRH, Bombo Radyo, and DZBB identified as top choices for news content, each receiving trust ratings of 33 to 34 percent.
