A total of 1,085 new corrections officers will take their oath of office on Monday, July 15, prior to their deployment to various prison facilities of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) nationwide.
In a statement, the BuCor said the new corrections officers have undergone a rigorous selection and screening process conducted by the bureau's Recruitment, Selection and Placement Section.
“The selection process emphasized qualities such as integrity, innovativeness, vigilance, and a strong adherence to God-fearing principles,” it said.
After their oath taking, they will join the ranks of BuCor's custodial personnel, it added.
A total of 349 corrections officers will be assigned at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City; 200 at the Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF), 200 at the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF), 100 at the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF), 140 at the Leyte Regional Prison (LRP), and 96 at the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF).
The oath taking ceremony will be presided by BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr.
“The ceremony marks a significant milestone not only for the recruits but also for the Bureau of Corrections as it strengthens its workforce to meet the challenges in corrections and rehabilitation in the country,” Catapang said.
