Overstaying Russian DJ in a Pasay City club arrested -- BI

An overstaying Russian disc jockey (DJ) working in a club in Pasay City has been arrested by agents of the Bureau of Immigration (BI).

He was identified as Andrei Umanskii, 36, against whom a deportation order has been issued by BI's board of commissioners in 2023.

The BI noted that Umanskii previously made headlines on two separate occasions in Palawan for his involvement in altercations.

The BI said that "in 2020, Umanskii was arrested in El Nido in Palawan for resisting and disobeying persons in authority after local officials reported that he was drunk and violent in their barangay."

“Additionally, in 2022, he was cited in a news report for assaulting a tricycle driver in Puerto Princesa City,” it added.

"The Bureau of Immigration does not welcome foreigners who abuse the country's hospitality,” declared BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco in a statement.

“We are committed to maintaining peace and order, and we will take necessary actions against those who violate our laws," Tansingco assured.
