PRO-11 spokesperson Police Major Catherine dela Rey confirmed on Wednesday night the designation of Police Col. Hansel M. Marantan as the new acting director of the DCPO effective July 10 in lieu of Butil.

Patay was relieved hours after assuming his post on Wednesday. He was meeting the new station commanders here when he received a phone call from Camp Crame informing him of the change.

Dela Rey did not provide further details about the sudden changes. She said Patay was reassigned as the Regional Operations Division head of the PRO-11, replacing Police Col. Alberto Lupaz who was assigned as the new chief of the Regional Information and Communications Technology Management Division.

The PRO-11 did not disclose where Butil will be reassigned.

The PRO-11 relieved on Monday, July 8, 20 police officers here, including DCPO acting director Police Col. Rolindo Suguilon, whom Patay replaced, during a reorganization. They were reassigned to the police provincial offices in the Davao region.

The decision did not sit well with Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte.

Duterte said in a statement that the extensive reassignment of the head of the DCPO, the Special Operations Group (SOG), and the station commanders would impact peace and security here.
