Police Regional Office-11 spokesperson Police Major Catherine dela Rey confirmed in a text message that Patay was relieved from his post. She, however, did not provide further details on the matter.

Dela Rey said Police Col. Sherwin Butil, head of the Regional Information and Communication Technology Management Division, was named the successor of Patay effective July 10.

Patay was reassigned as chief of the Regional Operations Division of the PRO-11, replacing Police Col. Alberto C. Lupaz, who is now the new chief of the Regional Information and Communications Technology Management Division.

Patay was reportedly gathering the new station commanders here in a conference when he received a phone call from the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters informing him of the changes.

PRO-11 relieved on Monday, July 8, 20 police officers here, including DCPO acting director Police Col. Rolindo Suguilon, whom Patay replaced, following a reorganization order.

Dela Rey said all the 20 police officers were reassigned to the police provincial offices of Davao Occidental, Davao del Sur, Davao del Norte, Davao de Oro, and Davao Oriental. She added that PRO-11 chief Police Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III has the authority to reassign officers as part of their responsibilities.
