The fare going from Quezon City to Parañaque City through the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 Cavite Extension will cost less than jeepneys and bus fares, an official from the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said.
During a site visit on Friday, June 7, DOTr Assistant Secretary for Railways Jorjette B. Aquino stated that the fare from the Fernando Poe Jr. station to Dr. Santos station will cost only around P45.

Meanwhile, the cost of going from the existing southernmost station on the line, Baclaran station, to Dr. Santos station will cost P25.
The Cavite Extension is expected to be open to the public in the fourth quarter before Christmas day, with construction progress already nearing 100 percent as of April.
It is also seen to carry additional around 40,000 to 50,000 additional passengers upon its opening, said Enrico Benipayo, LRMC general manager.
“And as we enter the next year, we’re hoping to double that to 80,000 to 100,000. Definitely that would somehow impact traffic,” Benipayo added.
Finance Secretary Ralph G. Recto, on the other hand, said that the LRT extension will speed up the commuting time and save fuel costs of passengers.
The stations of the LRT Cavite Extension will implement a boarding fare of P13.29, the same for its Line 1 and 2 counterparts, and also charge P1.21 per kilometer.
The 6.7-kilometer Phase 1 railway project will have five new stations: Redemptorist Station, Manila International Airport (MIA) Station, Asia World Station, Ninoy Aquino Station, and Dr. Santos Station.
Intermodal facility
To make it more convenient for passengers, the Dr. Santos station will serve as a major transit hub that will provide access to various modes of transportation through the intermodal facility.
It will have designated bays for public buses, jeepneys, taxis, private cars, and motorcycles, among others.
The facility boasts a vast 10,740 sqm lot area and is strategically located with access to and from Dr. A Santos Avenue and C5 Road Extension.
