Veteran movie writer Baby K. Jimenez is in town for a short visit for three reasons: to accept an honorary FAMAS award for journalism (May 26), to lay the groundwork for a coffee table book on the life of a famous movie queen, and to meet up with hundreds of friends and relatives. Since giving up her flourishing showbiz career in the mid-80s, BK has established herself, first in Los Angeles and then in Toronto, her new home.

Media friends at a May 30 luncheon that she hosted nag her about writing her memoir, a tell-all book showcasing her fascinating storytelling skills, complete with top celebrity secrets and all.

Want a secret to a long, healthy life? Hollywood actor Paul Newman drank 12 beers every day for decades. He chain-smoked, didn’t have a morning exercise routine, didn’t take supplements. He didn’t go fasting, didn’t take ice baths. Yet he lived artfully and handsome till the ripe old age of 83. Paraphrased from a Facebook post.

Martin Nievera The King Forever (Sept. 27, Araneta Coliseum) tops the list of major concert productions lined up by A- Team, the talent management and production company headed by Ogie Alcasid.

The announcement was made as A-TEAM held its trade launch May 23 at CWC Interiors at BGC in Taguig City.

Top man Ogie also announced the following forthcoming concerts under A- TEAM:

Lara Maigue and Gian Magdangal concert in Gateway, Cubao.

Streetboys reunion show at the New Frontier Theater in Cubao in 2025.

Noel Cabangon and Friends in “String Fever.”

Jed Madela, Bituin Escalante and Poppert in “Power X3”

Ogie Alcasid’s 4-part concert series.

By the way, we totally enjoyed Ogie’s rocked up versions of his own songs, Nandito Ako and Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang, which he performed at the trade launch. He joked that he felt as if he was performing in a Shakey’s outlet as he played furiously with a live band.

What a sad turn of events that as soon as he woke up the next day, May 24, he was told of Leo Dominguez’s passing. Leo has been Ogie’s manager for 34 years. Ogie posted an emotional farewell to his longtime friend and former classmate at La Salle Greenhills.

Also present at A-Team’s grand event were Vhong Navarro, Jhong Hilario, Amy Perez, Randy Santiago, and Regine Velasquez-Alcasid.
