Marcos taps Lapu-Lapu City mayor as chair of peace and order council in Central Visayas

President Marcos has appointed Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard Chan as chairperson of the Regional Peace and Order Council in Central Visayas.

Chan took his oath of office before the President on Wednesday, June 5.

His designation came days after he resigned as a member and local chapter chairman of Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP).

He was among the politicians who recently left the former ruling party. Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia and Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes have also recently left the party.

Meanwhile, this is the second time this week that the President appointed and administered the oath of office of new government officials.

On Tuesday, Marcos appointed singer Imelda Papin as an acting member of the Board of Directors of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).

The President also named Kathryna Yu-Pimentel, wife of Senator Koko Pimentel, as the country's special envoy to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
