NBI arrests mom, auntie for 'selling online' sex videos of 11-year-old child
A 28-year-old mother and her 26-year-old sister have been arrested in Quezon City for selling online to foreigners the sex videos of the former's 11-year-old daughter.
National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Jaime B. Santiago presented the two arrested suspects, who covered their heads with towels, before the media at the bureau's headquarters last Thursday, June 27.
Santiago said the operation conducted last June 25 by the NBI's Human Trafficking Division (NBI-HTRAD) also resulted in the rescue of the 11-year-old girl.
He said the sex video's of the girl were sold by her mother and auntie to foreigners for P25,000 through the messaging application Telegram.
“Hindi natin papayagan ‘yung mga ganyan (We won’t allow such things),” declared Santiago, a retired trial court judge and a bemedalled former police officer.
In committing such crimes, Santiago stressed: “Hindi justification ‘yung kahirapan (poverty can’t be used as justification).”
NBI-HTRAD Chief Olga I. Angustia-Gonzales said the two suspects have been presented for inquest on Wednesday, June 26, before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office for violations of Republic Act (RA) 11862, the Expanded Anti-Trafficking Persons Act of 2022; RA 11930, the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children and AntiChild Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials Act; and RA 7610, the Special Protection of Children Against ABuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.
“Nag-ugat ito sa isang case referral galing Exodus Road, isang NGO (This stemmed from the case referral from the non-government organization Exodus Road),” said Gonzales.
Gonzales, a lawyer, said that based on a report from Exodus Road, the Telegram accounts with the names “Ynah” and “Ayvah” were “engaged in the selling of live and recorded sex videos.
“As soon as natanggap namin ‘yung referral na ‘yun ay nagconduct kami ng sarili naming imbestigasyon at gumamit kami ng undercover agent (aftetr receving the referral,we immediately conducted our own investigation using an undercover agent),” she said.
After validating the information, she also said the NBI-HTRAD organized and led an entrapment operation with Exodus Road, NBI Evidential Multimedia Division, Department of Justice and NBI CyberTIP Monitoring Center, the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT). and the Social Service Development Department of Quezon City.
“Ayon po sa bata na 11 years old, matagal na po itong nangyayari, limang taon pa lang po s’ya (According to the 11-year-old girl, this has been happening for a long time since she was five years old),” Gonzales said quoting the declaration of the daugther.
Since the rescue, the 11-year-old girl has been placed in the protective custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
