My very last media organization was the Western Police District Press Corps. (ang luma! Manila Police na yan ngayon!). I was a member of this group during my stint as TV police reporter for RPN9. (sinaunang panahon!). But when I shifted to the entertainment world, I never had the chance to be part of any showbiz organizations. (baka ayaw nila sakin?!) Although I feel that I am friends with everybody regardless of their affiliation. (unless i-deny nila ako!)

Last month, I was invited to join the Multimedia Press Society of the Philippines or MMPRESS, since my co-hosts in our digital show Marites University are officers in the group. (so aarte pa ba ako?!) Jun Nardo is the Chairman, while Ambet Nabus holds the President’s post and Rose Garcia serves as Vice President  (so malamang ako ang muse!). Other officials include Joseph Gonzales (Secretary), Diego Dequino (Asst. Secretary), Lito Maniago (Treasurer) and Glenn Regondola (Auditor). My co-members are Jimpy Anarcon, Lendl Fabella, Romina Austria, Arniel Serato, Leah Salterio, Nitz Miralles and Nora Calderon. Noel Ferrer and Lito Zulueta are the advisers. I am, of course, fully aware of the group's missions and visions that’s why it was not hard for me to say yes. (di naman ako masyadong uto uto!)

The MMPRESS is the “re-branded” ENPRESS or the Entertainment Press Society of the Philippines. (may brand ha!). “Kami po ay nangangako sa pagbuhay muli ng award giving body na ito ay may advocacy na kasama.  Kasama na rito ang health, education at tourism. Pinalawak na rin namin ang membership kasi multimedia na nga sya. Hindi lang sya nagpo-focus on television and film," Ambet explained. (pero bawal daw starlet. Chos!)

Jun added: “Kasama na dyan ang online, digital, teatro, sports at music. SEC registered kami. Relevant na kami sa time. Sumunod na kami sa panahon.” (taray nung relevant ha!)

Just recently, the MMPRESS officers at members took the oath before Finance Secretary Ralph Recto at the Department of Finance. (kami na ang may sinasabi sa lipunan!) “Hindi na kayo bago sakin. Most of you, I know already because of my wife (Vilma Santos). Maraming salamat for all that you do for my wife," said Secretary Recto. (Vilmanian po ako sir!)
