Pilferage allegations prompt Cebu City gov't to halt fuel allocations
CEBU CITY – Fuel allocations for all Cebu City and barangay-owned vehicles were suspended due to allegations of pilferage.

Acting Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia ordered the suspension on Tuesday, June 18, after former and current employees of Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CCDRRMO) alleged that fuel subsidy for emergency vehicles was used for personal use.
At least nine former and present CCDRRMO workers exposed the alleged anomalies through City Councilor Jun Alcover.
Some City Hall workers have reportedly executed an affidavit to prove the allegations.
Among the alleged irregularities was the refueling of some CCDRRMO vehicles when they were not actually used in any emergency cases.
Garcia has ordered the Human Resource Development Office and City Legal Office to conduct an immediate investigation.
“Since it involves another employee then, of course, it is the HR and the City Legal Department that will spearhead the investigation, starting today (Tuesday),” said Garcia, who became the city’s acting mayor following the six-month preventive suspension of Mayor Michael Rama.
City-owned emergency vehicles are not covered by the fuel subsidy suspension.
"I have already ordered the suspension of fuel allocation of all government vehicles, except emergency vehicles – ambulances, fire trucks, including garbage trucks, police cars, and all vehicles that have to do with emergency," Garcia said.
Some offices may request for exemption, said Garcia.
“Of course, just like the exemption of biometrics, they will have to write to us a letter to justify why they should be exempted,” said Garcia.
Garcia has previously revoked the biometric daily time record exemptions following accusations that the head of the city Management Information and Computer Services has been receiving salary without reporting for work.
