UP Red Cross Youth Fun Run for hemophilia patients and blood donation awareness

To raise awareness and support for those diagnosed with hemophilia

One doesn’t need capes or superpowers to be a hero; sometimes, you can just run for a cause.

The UP Red Cross Youth invites everyone to the “Blood Line: The UP Red Cross Youth Fun Run” set to happen on June 30, 2024, at the UP Diliman Academic Oval. In partnership with the Hemophilia Advocates-Philippines (HAP), this event aims to raise awareness and support for those diagnosed with hemophilia, a bleeding disorder in which the blood cannot clot properly, leading to prolonged bleeding.

Between 2012 and 2015, UP RCY organized fun run events known as 'Blood Rush'. These events also included blood donation drives and seminars hosted by the organization. “Blood Line: The UP Red Cross Youth Fun Run” will be the 4th installment of the UP RCY and aims to continue this advocacy of blood donation awareness.

HAP, the beneficiary of this fun run, has been a national non-profit organization since 2016 that receives humanitarian donations of blood clotting medicine (factor replacement) and makes it accessible to patients, regardless of economic status, bleeding disorder, or affiliation. Since then, they have distributed an average of 6 million units of factor medicine annually.

Catch the late registration period from June 17 to 22. Participants can choose from the 2.5K, 5K, or 10K distances. The rates for these distances are P625, P675, and P725, respectively. Furthermore, walk-ins will also be accommodated during the event itself. The rates for these distances are P650, P700, and P750, respectively.

Participants shall receive a race kit consisting of a singlet, drawstring bag, button pin, and race bib, while the specialized kit for kids joining includes a cape and mask.
