Three persons were arrested and nine women were rescued from a bar in Tanay, Rizal that was allegedly engaged in human trafficking, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said on Thursday, May 9.
Those arrested were identified by the NBI, in a statement, as Webster Saul Del Monte, Creamlyn Camangyan Ubay, and John Patrick Saul Del Monte. The rescued women were not identified.
It said the arrests were done during an operation conducted by agents of the NBI’s Human Trafficking Division (NBI-HTRAD) at the Playgirl KTV Bar in Tanay last May 5.
“It (the bar) was offering, harboring, and maintaining human trafficking victims,” it also said.
After the arrests, the three suspects were charged before the Rizal Provincial Prosecutor's Office with violations of Republic Act 9208, the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003.
