Thanks to the transfer of three lady solons, the membership of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) has reached the 100-mark.

These three are Reps. Ching Bernos of the lone district of Abra, Kristine Tutor of the 3rd district of Bohol and Julienne “Jam” Baronda of the lone district of Iloilo City.

Of the trio, Bernos and Tutor were personally sworn in Tuesday, May 7 by Speaker Martin Romualdez during a simple ceremony at the Speaker’s Office in the House of Representatives. Romualdez is Lakas-CMD president.

In welcoming the new party members, Romualdez expressed confidence that they would provide meaningful contributions to advance the ideals of Lakas-CMD, as he cited their dedication to public service.

“Together we can leverage Lakas-CMD’s significant representation in the House of Representatives and extensive membership nationwide to address the pressing issues facing our nation and advance policies that promote inclusive growth and prosperity for all,” Romualdez said in a statement

Bernos and Tutor were both former members of the Nacionalista Party (NP), while Baronda bolted from the National Unity Party (NUP)

Congressmen from other political parties like Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) and Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) have also switched to Lakas-CMD since the beginning of the year.

The House has just over 300 members.
