805 PDLs freed in April 2024 -- BuCor


A total of 805 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) had been released from various prison facilities of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) within one month ending April 30, 2024.

In a statement, BuCor said that those released consisted of 548 PDLs whose maximum jail sentences had expired, 167 who had been granted parole, 67 who had been acquitted of criminal charges, 28 who had been granted probation, and one who had been released on a habeas corpus petition.

It said there were 42 PDLs freed from the Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) in Panabo City; 131 from Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) in Puerto Princesa City; 39 from Leyte Regional Prison (LRP) in Abuyog, Leyte; 148 from the Maximum Security Compound of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City;, 204 from the NBP Medium Security Compound; 46 from the NBP Minimum Security Compound; 17 from Reception and Diagnostic Center of the Bilibid; 51 from Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Occidental Mindoro; and 65 from San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) in Zamboanga City.

For the month of March 2024, BuCor said it released a total of 618 PDLs.
