BuCor has new corrections chief superintendent, 504 corrections officers
A newly promoted corrections chief superintendent, with an equivalent rank of one star general in the military, and 504 personnel with the rank of corrections officer 1 (CO1) have finished their six-month training and have been sworn in as officers of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).
Sworn in by BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. was Corrections Technical Chief Superintendent Ma. Ceclia V. Villanueva during the graduation ceremony held at the bureau's headquarters in Muntinlupa City.
The new corrections officers, 343 men and 161 women, will be assigned to various prison facilities of BuCor nationwide, the bureau said in a statement.
They underwent training at the BuCor's Corrections National Training Institute (CNTI) in Muntinlupa City.
“We are just beginning. Ngayong nakikita na natin ang mga pagbabago dito sa BuCor tuloy-tuloy na ito mangyayari (Now that we are seeing changes at the BuCor, this will continue),” assured Catapang.
Villanueva, a medical doctor, thanked Catapang for the trust in promoting her to the rank equivalent to a general.
“My heart is full and it is surreal,” said Villanueva who entered the BuCor in 1990 as a medical officer.
