The incident occurred when the student fell into a septic tank within the school campus on May 20.

Initial investigation by the Alfonso Municipal Police Station revealed that the pupil and three others were having lunch while seated on a concrete chair positioned above the septic tank at Sinaliw Malaki Elementary School.

Deped clarified there were four other children present, contrary to earlier reports.

"School officials are already in coordination (with) the local government unit, for medical assistance and the conduct of psychological first aid to the affected learners," DepEd said.
