BI to watch closely Cedric Lee, another convict in illegal detention for ransom of TV host Vhong Navarro

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Thursday, May 2, assured it will watch closely the country’s international ports for businessman Cedric C. Lee and another person convicted by the Taguig city regional trial court (RTC) of serious illegal detention for ransom of television host Ferdinand “Vhong” Navarro in 2014.

“The BI is committed to implement said orders if subjects are encountered in any ports of entry or exit,” said BI Spokesperson Dana Krizia Sandoval.

Aside from Lee, also convicted and sentenced to reclusion perpetua (maximum of 40 years imprisonment) were model Deniece Millinette Cornejo, Ferdinand Guerrero, and Simeon Raz.

The decision was handed down by RTC Judge Mariam G. Bien on Thursday, May 2.

Cornejo and Raz, who were present during the promulgation, were immediately taken into custody while the court issued arrest warrants against Lee and Guerrero who did not appear before the RTC.

“Cedric Lee has an active HDO (hold departure order) since 2014 and a warrant of arrest since 2015, and his name is likewise in the Immigration Lookout Bulletin since 2014," Sandoval said. 

She also said that "Ferdinand Guerrero has an active warrant of arrest in our system and an ILBO (Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order) dated 2014."

"The BI is committed to implement said orders if subjects are encountered in any ports of entry or exit," she said.
